African Capacity-building Centre (ACBC)
This publication summarizes activities of the African Capacity Building Centre (ACBC) in 2012–2013. Established in 2009 at the request of IOM’s African Member States, the ACBC activities fall under three distinct but inter-related pillars. First, the ACBC provides technical expertise in migration and border management in the form of assessments, trainings, workshops, and development and installation of the Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS, previously known as PIRS), a border information system developed by IOM. Second, the ACBC engages in migration research and development of migration management tools. Third, the ACBC strives to raise awareness about migration and border management issues through advocacy and partnerships.
