Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa Trade Facilitation Training Programme: Trainer’s Manual: Module 4

Migration, health, population mobility and cross-border trade

This is one of the five modules that make up the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa Trade Facilitation and Human Mobility Trainer’s Manual. The Trainer’s Manual was developed to build the capacities of border management agents and policy practitioners in the areas of trade facilitation, human mobility and migration issues in the COMESA region. Developed under the auspices of the COMESA Small-Scale Cross-Border Traders Initiative, this curriculum was meant to underline the interrelationship between trade and migration. This particular module demonstrates the value of integrating policy, practice and procedures in health, population mobility and trade, using the COVID-19 global pandemic as a case study. While people move for trade, they are also exposed to health conditions as well as being vectors of transboundary transmission of diseases.
