To foster cooperation and mutual exchange between the inter-State consultation mechanisms on migration (ISCMs) that include regional consultative processes on migration (RCPs), inter-regional forums on migration (IRFs) and global processes on migration, IOM has been organizing since 2005 Global Meetings of RCPs Chairs and Secretariats (Global RCP Meeting or GRCP). The Report summarizes the discussions and key outcomes of the Seventh Global RCP Meeting (GRCP 7) held from 10 to 11 October 2017 in Geneva under the theme “Inter-State Consultation Mechanisms on Migration and the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.” This Summary Report illustrates the role of ISCMs in the implementation of the global compact for safe, orderly and regular migration and highlights the main inputs and recommendations to the global compact for migration from ISCMs and their main regional partners, the Regional Economic Organizations and UN Regional Commissions.
