Migration Health 2023 Impact Overview
This report provides an overview of activities led and implemented by the Migration Health Division of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in 2023, in close collaboration with Member States, other United Nations agencies and partners. These interventions served to deliver and promote comprehensive, preventive and curative health programmes that are beneficial, accessible, rights-based and equitable for migrants, mobile populations and host communities. The results have created an enabling environment to advance evidence-informed and inclusive health and migration policies and supported governments in their decision-making processes; sustainably contributed to enhancing migrants’ empowerment, inclusion and resilience in society; and promoted health security for all. The report demonstrates the Organization’s commitment to advancing the health of migrants and communities worldwide across three key areas: 1) saving lives and protecting people on the move by improving access to quality health care and provision of health services; 2) strengthening health systems and anticipating and mitigating health-related risks linked to displacement to support durable solutions; and 3) promoting the health of migrants and mobile populations and strengthening health governance for regular migration pathways.
