Long-term Irregular Staying Migrants in Austria: Practices and challenges

This report has been produced by the National Contact Point Austria in the European Migration Network (EMN), contributing to EMN’s study “Responses to long-term irregularly staying migrants: practices and challenges in EU Member States and Norway”. The report deals in detail with the phenomenon of irregularly staying persons. In this context, it examines the responses and approaches taken by the competent authorities to avoid and mitigate situations of irregularity and the social consequences for the third-country nationals concerned. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the measures taken in Austria in relation to the pandemic and irregularly staying persons are also presented. The report covers the following topics:
