International Dialogue on Migration No. 34: Overlapping Global Crises: The Impacts of Food Insecurity and Climate Change on Migration and Displacement
The second edition of the International Dialogue on Migration (IDM) in 2022 took place on 24 and 25 October 2022 on the theme: Overlapping Global Crises: The Impacts of Food Insecurity and Climate Change on Migration and Displacement. The session was a timely and opportune moment ahead of the 27th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) and built on the successful outcomes of the first International Migration Review Forum to address the complex interlinkages between climate change, food security and human mobility.
The session encouraged dialogue among Member States, stakeholders, and partners to develop and implement preparedness and response plans, policies and programmes to address global crises linked to climate change and food security.
This publication presents a report of the two-day session and offers the reader a compilation of relevant data, evidence, best practices, innovative approaches and recommendations relevant to discussion on food security, climate change and mobility as shared by migration experts, governments and practitioners at the meeting.
