Migration Data and Marriage Migrants in the Republic of Korea

Authored by Taehoon Lee, this gender and migration research policy (GenMig) paper compares existing data on migrant flows and stocks in the Republic of Korea to showcase different migration patterns and processes at the national level, with a specific focus on gendered marriage migration. The paper examines the characteristics of marriage migrants in the Republic of Korea and discusses policy issues related to migrants in multicultural families, as well as policy impacts over the past decade. This research was funded by the Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development (KNOMAD) as part of its thematic working group on data and demography at the World Bank.
