Research Study on Assessing the Effectiveness of Migration Restrictions in Ulaanbaatar City and Migrants’ Vulnerability

Within the framework of the project, Understanding and Managing Internal Migration in Mongolia (UMIMM), a study on the effectiveness and impacts of internal migrant registration restrictions in Ulaanbaatar was conducted to provide evidence for advocacy groups and policymakers to advocate for vulnerable rural-to-urban migrants affected by the measure. The study assessed the pros and cons of the migration restrictions and investigated whether these measures have contributed to reversing rural-to-urban migration trends or resulted in an increase in the number of unregistered migrants and associated impacts.
