Suriname Migration Profile: A study on emigration from, and immigration into Suriname

This migration profile for Suriname aims to offer a country-owned tool for developing and advocating an evidence-based approach to migration policymaking. Such a policy can help reduce negative migration consequences and promote positive migration impacts at the micro and macro levels. Data sources included unpublished databases from government institutions, published databases from national and international organizations, interviews with key stakeholders and existing secondary data.

This migration profile is part of the project “Strengthening the dialogue and cooperation between the European Union (EU) and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to establish management models on migration and development policies”, implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in close collaboration with its partner, the International and Ibero-American Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP) and financed by the European Union.
