Offering New Beginnings and Promoting Development

Australia and IOM (Partnerships in Action)

The partnership between IOM and Australia, one of the Organization’s founding Member States, dates back to 1951. This publication charts the major areas of our cooperation, highlighting key achievements and landmark steps in the evolution of joint work. Together we have moved hundreds of thousands of refugees to new beginnings, we have built the capacity of government officials to better manage migration and we have advanced dialogue and regional cooperation on key migration issues. Australia’s support to IOM also extends from IOM’s development initiatives to humanitarian relief, recovery programming, and disaster risk reduction.
