Since 2001 the International Dialogue on Migration has been providing states and other relevant actors a forum for open and inclusive debate on key migration policy aspects and for advancing understanding, dialogue and cooperation on migration governance.
The governance of migration at the global level has undergone incremental and substantial changes in recent years. Most notable are the adoption of the 2016 New York Declaration on Refugees and Migrants at the UN General Assembly and ongoing efforts to advance two global compacts.
Chapter 3 provides a discussion of key regional dimensions of, and developments in, migration. The discussion focuses on six world regions, namely Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Northern America and Oceania. For each of these regions, the analysis includes:
