This study explains the roles of relevant actors and describes reception conditions for asylum seekers and others entitled to basic welfare support in Austria. It examines federal and provincial legislation as well as the different types of reception facilities. Furthermore, challenges and available flexibility mechanisms are presented in the context of current trends in the number of applications for international protection that are lodged in Austria.
