This publication is a research based publication taking into account both field research, State bodies and expert opinions. The executive summary presents results of field research carried out from September–November 2019 in in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It identifies socioeconomic vulnerabilities, relative position of vulnerable groups and sources of assistance to deal with those vulnerabilities. Expanding on the summary subsequent information was collected from competent State bodies and through interviews with experts. This research was conducted until January 2020 and was later added to the report. It covers perceptions of various stakeholders and the possible linkage of socioeconomic vulnerabilities with individuals’ grievances that could potentially make them susceptibile to messages from extremist organizations’.
